Hello
As I write this letter, Christmas can be seen on the High Street and I know we’re all hoping that we can celebrate the Festive Season with our families and friends, despite the challenges of the pandemic. All our lives have been impacted by Covid 19, with many of us feeling anxiety and for some of us, unfortunately, there’s been sadness and loss.
We sincerely hope that you and your families are finding a way to cope with these difficult and unprecedented times and that we can look forward to more positive times ahead, with our freedom restored and without the worries of the current situation.
The Trust Fund team has been working hard to support our BHS family and former employees, who have needed our help. Like you, we have adapted our daily routines to ensure that we can work safely to help individuals facing financial and other challenges.
Earlier this year, the Trustees had to make the difficult decision to put our annual holiday and short breaks programme on hold for 2020, but we very much hope that we’ll be able to resume them next year.
As we look forward to Christmas, there may be some of our former colleagues who are already worrying about how they will cope with Christmas. Should you know of someone who needs support, please encourage them to get in touch with Angela or Denise, whose contact details are below. Or if you have worries, please don’t feel embarrassed about getting in touch – all calls to us are handled with utmost confidentiality.
On a slightly different note, I know that many of you still meet up with your former colleagues. Would you mind taking a minute when you’re next in touch, to see if they are on the Trust Fund’s mailing list? If they’re not, please suggest they call Angela or Denise so that they can receive information about the Fund and what we do.
This year, the Trustees, Case Workers and Administration team, who are all mostly volunteers, have helped even more of our BHS family than last year. They have done a sterling job to ensure everyone has received the support they need – I am so proud of the whole team. And we all want to help even more next year!
